Freddie Dickson first arrived on the scene with his debut E.P Shut us Down, (2013) a collection of sultry synth-pop. Met with critical acclaim he signed to Sony’s Columbia Records in 2014. After a string of singles and E.P’s Dickson gradually became lost in the major label machine. With the demand for a more commercial pop sound and drifting further away from his original dark and atmospheric production, he cut ties just two years later. In 2017 he released his introspective and atmospheric debut album PANIC TOWN. Now independent and in full control, Dickson had returned to his roots of a more classic-singer songwriter style, adding a darker and more grungy sound to his songs. Having been part of the London music scene for a long time, he began to grow restless and the decision was made to record a brand new album (Blood Street) and to relocate to Berlin. Inspired by his love of Portishead-style production and Neil Young harmonies, Dickson produced and recorded the songs himself in his flat in North London and moved to Berlin in September 2018. With the help of his long time collaborator producer John Davies, the two worked remotely until the album was fully mixed and mastered the following year. This new collection of deeply personal songs reflect upon Dickson’s relationship with his hometown, his desire to continue to follow wherever his music takes him and the insecurities that arise throughout this journey.
