Candice Accola (born May 13, 1987) is an American actress and singer, best known for her role as Caroline Forbes on The Vampire Diaries. Accola grew up in Edgewood. Her father, Kevin, is a cardiothoracic surgeon and her mother, Carolyn, was formerly an environmental engineer before becoming a homemaker. Both her parents are active members of the local Republican political party. She has one younger brother. In the middle of her junior year at Lake Highland Preparatory School, she moved to Los Angeles. Six months later, she had a deal for a CD titled It’s Always the Innocent Ones. She finished high school through correspondence and graduated with her class in 2005. Accola appeared in her first movie, Pirate Camp, in 2007. Accola has guest-starred on popular TV series How I Met Your Mother, Supernatural, and Greek. She has also appeared in films such as On the Doll, Juno, Deadgirl, and X's & O's.
