Iconauts (ex-Ikona) is a post-сhristian metal band from Belarus. During the time of Ikona’s existence (from 2005) were released several EP’s and a debut album, filmed two videos and done some touring. But nothing last forever and at the end of 2009 Ikona was killed to resurrect in a new form. Band name came from an idea of combining two words in one. Using the same structure as the Argonauts (In Greek mythology, the Argonauts were a band of heroes who, in the years before the Trojan War, accompanied Jason to Colchis in his quest to find the Golden Fleece) and astronauts (persons trained to command, pilot, or serve as crew members of a spacecraft) have, was named a newborn monster. The first word an icon (religious work of art, most commonly a painting, from Eastern Christianity, Eastern Orthodox Christianity and Catholicism) came from the previous band name Ikona (writing in Russian style) and the second is nautes (meaning "sailors" or in the modern way “travelers”).
