О себе
Where does one start? Well in my case it would have been a very long time ago, my sister Peggy would play music and get her one year old little brother to dance the twist with her (I did say a long time ago). Growing up in the sixties I was blessed to grow up on the new music, still listen to some of my families favorites from the 50's, and hear some real country a family tradition. I grew up with my Mother playing the guitar for fun and was always excited for my Uncle Kenny to come for a visit, man could he play the blues. The idea of playing anything more complicated then the radio really never hit my sister or brother, but I wanted so bad I could taste it. Of course I wanted to know everything without realizing how hard one should work to become a good musician. I learned some basic chords and held my own in the teen years with friends and family though never really pushed to get better. I always had a guitar with me where ever I lived and loved to write songs more then play, henceforth a lot of three chord songs were born. I wrote my first song at age 16 after getting my heart bruised for the first time and later a song on that year a song in remembrance of two friends that lost their lives at an early age in an auto accident. From there out I would dust my guitar off once in a while but it was a rare occasion. In the early eighties I made a big step and got married, but it didn't work out since I married who I later learned to be one of the best friends I would ever have. 10 months in and we knew it wouldn't work, the judge thought we were crazy but we divorced anyway. Second marriage came soon after and for all the wrong reasons, she was beautiful and desired by all which I would learn to dread. We had a beautiful baby boy, and after that things went straight to hell in a hand basket. She found her Italian stallion and I found freedom once again, I guess all work and no play made Donnie a boring partner. I moved to Upsher County WV for work and was introduced to Bluegrass by my then new found friend Cutty. We played on occassion and the guitar once again became my closet friend. In the 80's I moved up to New Jersey I hooked up with Glen Laba plus a few real characters from Trenton who had a band called "Near Dark"/ .The summer I spent singing with them is one I will never forget. Thru the band scene in NJ I met a lot of interesting people and often wonder where they are today. In 1992 some one ask me if I would consider working overseas, I said maybe, they said Moscow Russia, I said are you f*cking crazy, they said yes we are, and I said hell yeah lets go for it so I took my first international flight in January of 1993 and I have stayed where I landed for the past 17 years. The music scene in Russia is not so different from home with the exception that Glamour comes before good music, and cheap blondes with no voice but can lip-sync will get on top a lot faster then a true performer. As for the real music, you will find it everywhere the percentage of people with musical talents here out weighs any where I have ever been. A nice surprise in Russia is the amount of talent you will find here that actually comes out of the Expat community. A few names I have had the pleasure of getting to know and listen to: Charles Register - Katya, DaDuce & Maxi G - Alex Shifrin - Tony Watkins - Ray Anderson - Daria Yelkina - Johan Veerbeck - Tony Young - Anna Nikolaeva- Boris Golik-Denis Blagushin- and of course my guitar hero "Ziyod" All in all I have had the chance to perform more venues with some of the top talents from both the Russian and Expat Community. From here out the music goes on....... A few Venues: 777, Yuzhno Sakhalin - Hard Rock Cafe, Moscow, Russia - Chesterfields, Moscow, Russia - Hemmingway's, Moscow, Russia - Metalista's Sportland Casino, Moscow, Russia - Poltnikov Pub, Moscow, Russia - East Meets West, Moscow, Russia - Intourist Hotel, Krasnodar, Russia - Soyuz Hotel
