О себе
I just wanted to take a moment to drop you, one of our great fans, a quick note to formally introduce myself to you and to let you know how honored I feel to be playing for the Bulls and representing the great city of Chicago. We had a rough start at 0-9, but you continue to come out to the United Center and watch us compete every night. That speaks volumes about your loyalty. I remember watching on TV how packed the stadium always looked, how excited the crowd was and how much energy was in the building. I can really see that same energy coming back—the buzz of the crowd during pregame, kids yelling, screaming and asking for autographs during shootaround–we're definitely starting to turns things around.
Growing up as a kid I was definitely a Bulls fan. Like many of you, I tried watching every game during the championship years when Michael, Scottie and Dennis were here. My favorite memory has to be Mike's last shot against Utah. That was simply unbelievable. This summer I had a chance to play a lot of hoops with Michael over at Hoops the Gym. I tried to pick up as much as I could from him just by observing him and watching how he handled himself. The best advice he gave me was that rest and diet were so important to having a healthy and successful NBA season and career. Most guys will just tell you to go out there and play hard, but Michael really got down to the point with me.
My mom has definitely been the biggest influence in my life. All throughout my playing days at UConn and now during my rookie season, she's always there to motivate me. She doesn't know a lot about the game, but the advice and guidance she gives me is so valuable. Any time I struggle, she always tells me to go out there and continue to work and remember that basketball is supposed to be fun. On the basketball side of things, my biggest influences have been guys like Gary Payton, Isiah Thomas and Dennis Johnson. I've tried to take little things from each of their games and work it into mine. I especially admire Gary Payton's post moves and his spin game to the baseline.
When I'm away from basketball, I'm very family oriented. I don't get to spend that much time with my family being on the road as much as we are (although they try to make it out here to Chicago twice a month), so I make the most of every chance I get. I love movies and rank “Scarface,” “Casino” and “Soul in the Hole” as my all-time favorites. My music favorites include 50 Cent, Nas and Jay-Z.
Coach Skiles is very demanding of us day in and day out. He's always teaching us how to get better as individuals and as a team—his intensity has certainly rubbed off. Come game time, he's as fired up as anyone. I also can't say enough about the veteran leadership we have on this team. Antonio, Othella, Eric, Adrian—they've had an outstretched hand both on and off the court the entire season. Whether it's teaching us defensive strategies or simply encouraging us to play our own games, they've always been there for me and the rest of our young guys.
Finally, I want to say that I'm really excited about where this team is headed and I hope you are too. Our whole attitude has changed since the beginning of the season. Everybody is a lot more confident now that we're winning and our chemistry has gotten so much better. My main goal when I came here was to help us make the playoffs, and with your continued support that is beginning to look more and more realistic.
Thanks a million for your great support.
Sincerely,
David Fabian
